These bandit chicken wings, cumin wings, are one of my favourite side dishes to order from a popular noodle chain Tamjai Samgor in Hong Kong. Not sure where the name ‘bandit wings’ came from, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you made this at a dinner party and everyone tries to “steal” a piece from you.
ingredients to make bandit chicken wings:
- 8-10 chicken wings
~marinade:
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp Shaoxing cooking wine
- 1 tsp sesame oil

- Preheat oven to 200˚C / 390˚F.
- Rinse the chicken wings and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Combine all the listed ingredients to marinate the chicken. Marinate for an hour or overnight for better flavours.
- Put the wings in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, then flip over to the other side and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through.
- Sprinkle black sesame seeds for garnish and serve.
