Satay Beef Fried Rice

Satay beef fried rice is a flavourful dish that combines tender, marinated beef with the rich, nutty aroma of satay sauce. Tossed with perfectly stir-fried rice and a hint of smoky wok hei, this dish brings a delicious balance of savoury, slightly spicy, and aromatic flavours, making it a super comforting dish.

ingredients:

  • 230g ribeye steak 

  • 1-2 servings cooked white rice
  • 1/4 cup frozen vegetables
  • 1 tbsp satay paste
  • 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Chopped green onions

Beef marinade

  • 1 tbsp satay paste
  • 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1/2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper powder

steps:

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with satay paste, light soy sauce, cornstarch with water, sugar, and white pepper powder. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a wok or large pan over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until 80% cooked. Set aside.
  3. In the same wok, add a little oil and pour in the beaten egg. Stir-fry for a few seconds, then add cooked rice. Stir-fry for a couple of minutes until combined.
  4. Add the frozen vegetables and stir-fry until heated. Then, add the dark soy sauce, a pinch of white pepper, and the satay paste. Stir everything together until evenly coated.
  5. Combine everything: Return the beef and scrambled egg to the wok. Toss everything together, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until well combined.
  6. Finish with green onions: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
